OpinionJournal - Extra: Brooklyn's "Arab Street"
Israel, of course, is the enemy. And the protestors were particularly upset that American foreign aid goes to this "rogue state." One man outside Borough Hall yelled that Israel "is no different than apartheid South Africa"--an ironic comparison, given that the protest itself was segregated. As the procession made its way up Atlantic Avenue, the men walked together chanting "Free, free Palestine" and other slogans, while the women and children brought up the rear, 20 or so feet behind the men. At Borough Hall too, the men gathered in front, women and children kept to the back.I wonder about those who support a religion and political system (and under "true" Islam they are often one and the same) which openly discriminates against half of the population. Maybe that's why we're seeing more female murder-suicide bombers. "See, I am equal!"
